Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds has taken the gaming world by storm since its release last March as part of Steam’s early access lineup and now on Xbox One. Now that you have had time to get familiar with the controls, maps, and vehicles—its time to start looking at some advanced tips to give you the upper edge against your opponents. I’ve put together five advanced tips to help you survive not only to a top-ten placement, but also give you a really good chance at that coveted chicken dinner. Let’s take a look at those advanced tips and tricks of PUBG.

How to optimize healing while using bandages

Many people do not realize, if you continuously use your bandages one right after another to heal it will waste a lot of these valuable items. You can heal the exact same amount by spacing out the use of bandages. Each bandage will heal you by 10 health over a period of eight seconds.
The healing is done in a total of five increments. On your health bar once you use the bandage you will see a white bar that is added on to your health. That is the maximum amount of health that the bandage will heal you. This bar fills up in five increments.
You want to wait to use your next bandage after the third increment occurs. By doing this, you will use an average of half the amount of bandages and only add 3 seconds on to your heal time to achieve the same amount of healing.

Save valuable time time while healing

In addition to the tip above, you can start to move when the healing item you are using is at 0.5 seconds left. You’ll get fully healed and save yourself some time as well. This works whether you are on foot or in a vehicle.
This tip is most useful when you are taking damage by the blue circle, especially late game. Many people wait until their health has fully regenerated instead of starting to run when there is 0.5 seconds left. The extra 0.5 seconds could mean the difference between life and death.

Your vehicle can be used as cover

If you are driving a vehicle and see an enemy who is out in the open and want take the fight to them by getting out to fight, don’t just get out of the car. By default, you will get out on the driver’s side and be left with no cover at all. What I highly suggest doing so that you have a much better chance of winning the fight is to get out on the passenger side of the vehicle.
On the PC press control two or control four and on Xbox One press the “A” button to change seats. This will allow you to use your vehicle as cover. Additionally, if you get out of a vehicle while on a hill you can take the brake off by tapping “W” on PC or pressing “Y” on Xbox before getting out and use it as rolling cover. The vehicle will slowly move forward and allow you to move with cover.

Free/alt look

If you are proning in the grass or hiding in a bush, there is a way to look around without moving. This is done by holding down the left ALT key on PC and RB on the Xbox One controller. This will make the camera independent of the way you are facing, and allow you to rotate the camera in a full 360-degree circle around you.
This is also useful while running around in open fields or without cover, it will allow you to spot enemies in the open. This is important as if an enemy is behind you and you are running in a straight line out in the open, they can gun you down without you ever having a chance to shoot them.

Never stay in one place for an extended amount of time

When I play PUBG, I almost never stop moving. Whether I’m fighting an enemy holding a building or looting, I always try to keep moving. When I encounter an enemy and either damage or engage them, I immediately change positions. Although this results in me playing aggressively, this doesn’t have to be the case for you.
Instead, you can just change to a different positional altogether. Maybe to a different building to try and land some additional shots from a new spot. Once you engage with an enemy or they engage you, they now have a lot of information about your position. Your ultimate goal should be to give your enemy as little information as possible. By changing positions immediately, not only do that not have information about your new location but they also have false information about where they think you are.
This puts you at a huge advantage as if will throw off their decision-making. In regards to changing positions, I personally find a lot of success in putting pressure on an enemy. When someone sees you, they begin figuring out their next move. If you take the initiative and move on them, you’ll often have more control of the fight.
